York Evangelical Church was founded in 1982 by a group of Christians who were committed to historic Christianity based on the Bible and wished to worship God together.

The church has no ties to any one denomination but has close links with other similar churches in Yorkshire. Through our partnership with AFFINITY we are linked with many churches throughout the UK.

Members of the church are drawn from a wide cross-section of occupations and ages.

Our worship could be described as traditional but we seek to understand the Bible and apply its teachings to life in the 21st Century.

In our worship we sing a mixture of modern and older hymns mainly drawn from the current version of Christian Hymns.

The centre of our worship is a sermon based on the Bible.
